The TeamFootWorks Marathon Training Program is the pinnacle of all our training programs. Running is increasingly popular because the masses realize the benefits it can manifest. Marathons are one of the most difficult races to complete and require the proper knowledge and commitment to lead you to the finish line. Our Training Program will strengthen your ability and will to run the 2014 Miami Marathon or any marathon thereafter.

The long training days are held on Saturdays with groups tailored to your pace. Teams are lead by 2-3 veteran runners. Not only will our training program enhance your conditioning it will also motivate you by surrounding you with a culture filled with dedication. You will be amazed as to how quickly the time and the miles get shredded while running with your training team.

The program starts with a 30 minute orientation and then a 30 minute run/walk. Following the Run/Walk Method, you will only have to concentrate on the next 2-6 minutes of running and a 1-minute walk break. We offer several different pace groups for people of every ability and speed. We aim to finish by 8:00AM, therefore as the distances increase, runs will eventually start as early as 4:30AM.

The early morning energy inevitably becomes contagious and the friendships you develop will be well worth the early weekend alarm clock!

While the long runs and walks develop your ability to go the distance, it is the weekly running and cross-training that will take you to another level of health and fitness. During the week you are responsible for two short runs or walks of no more than 60 minutes. FootWorks South Miami hosts our weekly runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm and FootWorks South Beach hosts our Tuesday night run at 7:00pm to keep your training on schedule.

HI Carol! I’d recommend coming to our info training session. Our next one is Oct 2 Thursday at 6:30pm. Half training starts Oct 4th. In the meantime, if you’re already running, then come to our Tuesday and Thursday night fun runs. 6:30pm at FootWorks South Miami.

I got your website address from a piece on NPR … I was fascinated … I’m a good walker (for 62) but I have NEVER run, as I find I get winded … perhaps my aerobic strength has been poor, forever? … Can I change that? Begin running a little, then more? Your website suggests your programs are in Dade, but are there equivalents in West Broward? … I may be ready !! Thanks …

Hi Mickey! Thanks for looking us up. Consistency is the key to any training program. Maybe your aerobic is fine but you’re just going too fast? Then you stop training because you’re too winded instead of slowing down the pace. It’s just a thought. We don’t have any programs in Broward but Friends in Training runs a similar program to ours. Check them out, http://www.friendsintraining.net.
